North Sea Ferries

North Sea Ferries sail in to Hull and Newcastle from several ports in Europe. Hull is approximately 1 hours drive away, and Newcastle is approximately 90 minutes drive away.

Hull port

P&O is the main operator from Hull, sailing to Rotterdam and Zeebrugge up to 7 times a week each.

P&O Ferries onboard facilities include shops, a coffee shop, restaurants, a Piano bar, cinema, live entertainment, casino, bureau de change and cabins to get a good night’s sleep.

Getting to York (38 miles / 61 km)

Driving – Take the A1079 straight from the middle of Hull to York. Total journey time 1 hour.

Train – A bus service to Hull rail station leaves after the ferry has arrived. Once at the station, take the train to York, via Selby. Total journey time 1 hour 45 minutes.

Newcastle port

Newcastle’s main ferry operator is DFDS Seaways which sails up to 7 times a week to Amsterdam. The crossing takes approximately 16 hours. DFDS Seaways ferries offer the highest standards of comfort and all the onboard facilities you could possibly dream of. You can choose from several different cabin types to suit your needs or choose a luxury one if you want to treat yourself.

Getting to York (82 miles / 132 km)

Driving – The port is just off the A19. Take this road due South straight to York. Total journey time 1 hour 45 minutes.

Train – A bus service to Newcastle Central station runs after the ferry has docked. Then take the direct East Coast mainline service to York. Total journey time 1 hour 30 minutes.
